Rust Converter

PURPOSE

NASA rust converter is designed for the rapid and effective conversion (removal) of rust on ferrous metal surfaces: building metal structures, overpasses, supports, pipes, garages, reinforcing steel, and steel elements of reinforced concrete structures before applying paint and varnish materials.

After treatment with a rust converter, a zinc phosphate coating is formed on the metal surface, providing high-quality adhesion, corrosion resistance, and weather resistance of the applied paint and varnish coating.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

It is recommended to treat metal structures with a rust converter at ambient temperatures ranging from +5°C to +35°C. The corrosion layer thickness should not exceed 100 µm.

Clean loose, flaking rust from the metal surface with a wire brush. Apply NASA with a brush, roller, or spray gun. Allow the reaction time to 30 minutes. Allow to dry completely.

To extend the life of the finish paint coating, it is recommended to wash off the converted rust layer with water and dry the surface. Apply the finish paint according to the instructions. The coverage rate for a single-layer coating is 100–130 g/m².

IMPORTANT

The thicker the rust layer, the darker the reaction will be (more iron phosphates/oxalates).

After the reaction, the surface becomes less loose, with a protective shade from dark gray to almost black.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION

Store and transport in a tightly sealed container at temperatures between +5°C and +40°C. Protect from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight. Keep the opened container tightly closed.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

Personal protective equipment: goggles, rubber gloves and respirator.

In case of contact with skin, wash with warm water and soap.

In case of contact with eyes or skin, neutralize with plenty of water; if necessary, consult a doctor.

Keep out of reach of children.

COMPOUND

Distilled water, orthophosphoric acid, targeted additives, corrosion inhibitor.
